Soul-Drunk Love

One of the main teachings in Judaism is to delve deeper, to dig beneath what we can see to reach true meaning. But what does this mean for sex and intimacy, that is so focused on and practiced through the body?

In Judaism the body is just as holy as the soul and according to mystical thought, even more. The body allows us to interact here on earth. But of course, we have to dig deeper.

As much as the soul is divine and holy, it is limited as is anything practiced with it. The body engages in intimacy but its parameters and the rules of nature will confine it.

Take wine for example. The bottle is important. People spend millions of dollars in marketing and design just to appeal to the customer. But the real content is the wine. The bottle is just the vessel that houses it.

When it comes to intimacy and sex, it starts with the body. The body is is what begins the journey and without it, the souls cannot meet. But what truly intoxicates is the wine, the taste. If you want a real taste of someone, it will come from their soul, their essence- what lies deep within their body.

To get there, you have to drink- ask, open up, communicate, fight, touch, and love, using your bodies as a means to unite your souls. Drink each other up.
